Beyond the Guestbook: Why I Started Wedding Chats

Back in 2021, I was working in media and marketing, spending my weekends doing something a little different — interviewing Newcastle Knights fans outside the stadium for fun social videos. I’d set up with a mic, ask them quick-fire questions, and get the most hilarious answers.

A friend of mine — Lauren Hensby from Hungry Hearts Co. — saw those videos and said something that stuck with me: “You should be doing this at weddings.”

That was the lightbulb moment. I'd never thought about applying that interview style to the wedding industry, but she was right. I’d worked at events, hosted panels, run trivia, and loved chatting to people. Why not bring that energy into the world of weddings?

And that’s how Wedding Chats was born.

The Guestbook Reinvented

When you think about a wedding guest book, you probably picture a hardcover notebook with a few scribbled names and “Congrats!” messages. Most couples don’t revisit it, and if they do — it’s more out of obligation than emotion.

But weddings are full of rich, beautiful, often hilarious moments — and the people who matter most.

Wedding Chats captures those moments on camera. I interview your guests throughout the day, ask them about you, their best advice, their favourite memories — and then edit those chats into a beautiful long-form keepsake.

It’s personal. It’s real. And it’s the kind of video you’ll want to rewatch on every anniversary (and share with the kids one day too).

Why Couples Love It

After more than 100 weddings and 7,000+ on-camera interviews, one thing is clear — everyone has a story, you just have to ask the right questions.

Whether it’s your nan talking about love, your best mate sharing an embarrassing story, or your parents reflecting on what the day means to them — this isn’t just a guest book. It’s a time capsule.

Couples tell us:

  • It captured memories their videographer couldn’t

  • It gave them a chance to hear from people they missed on the day

  • It’s the one thing they’re most excited to watch back

A Guestbook Worth Rewatching

Based in Newcastle, I work across Sydney, the Hunter Valley, and beyond. What started as a quirky content idea at footy games has turned into a full-time business helping couples capture the voices of their favourite people on the best day of their lives.

Modern couples want more than just a highlight reel. They want something that shows the soul of their day — and that’s where Wedding Chats comes in.
